A Conference on Scriptural Theology

There will be a conference at BYU on October 4th on scriptural theology, featuring ten papers. The conference is being sponsored by the Richard L. Evans Chair of Religious Understanding at BYU.

The sessions will be held in the Library Auditorium beginning at 9 a.m. Here’s the schedule:

9 a.m. — Reading the Old Testament
Robert Couch, “Without Money, and Without Price”
Joseph M. Spencer, “Reading the Unwriteable: On the Interpretation of Job 19:23-25a”

10 a.m. — Reading the New Testament
Adam S. Miller, “Take No Thought”
Eric D. Huntsman, “Jesus on Jesus: John 5-6”

11 a.m. — Reading the Book of Mormon
B. W. Jorgensen, “Alma’s Wisdom-Poem to Helaman (Alma 37.35-37)”
Claudia L. Bushman, “I, Nephi”


2 p.m. — Reading the Doctrine and Covenants
P. Jane Hafen, “Seek Ye Earnestly the Best Gifts”
Jenny Webb, “Records, Reading, and Writing in D&C 128”

3 p.m. — Reading the Pearl of Great Price
James E. Faulconer, “The Way toward the Garden: Moses 1:1-15”
George B. Handley, “Moses, the Creation, and the Nothingness of Man”
