For instance we are told we should have our food storage so that we can help ourselves and others but so many don’t do that hoping someone else will take care of them.

When my thoughts and actions are aligned with my Heavenly Fathers temptations, dark desires, sins etc. are not an issue.
It is when I begin to analyze, question or minimize my covenants. This is when temptation become a huge player i.e. the adversary.
The Spirit begins to separate from my very being and an unnecessary struggling or struggles start. I believe this is where the Righteous Path becomes a tedious endeavor.
Then I begin to contend and contest a multitude of trivial decisions.
Here the Temple starts to topple over (metaphorically speaking)
“What is the right choice?”
“Do I do this or that?”
My resolve weakens; covenants I have been keeping become frail.

I may not always understand my Heavenly Father’s plan it Covenants I have or will be making. When theI Path appears tedious and blessings seem so far- I must remind myself daily:
“Be Patient!!”
I must hold on to the Iron Rod truly and know that there is always a Loving Embrace to see me through to the end…

I can walk away at anytime but Today I Choose to stay everyday with constant Prayer.

I also think that you are EXACTLY right by saying, “maybe we just don’t know how much we really need him [Christ].” This really hits the nail on the head. We talk so much about works and what we can do for ourselves that we start fighting against the grace that God is trying to give us. Joe does a great job explaining all of this grace business in his posts on this site that respond to the book “Believing Christ.” This post makes the point especially well.

We hate not to have something that everyone else may have? The article gave me some new things to think about. I think about that film 17 miracles, the dried meat, the angel-left cake, the quail, the dried biscuits from traveling overseas…the early Saint’s depended on the Lord for everything. Maybe we just don’t know how much we really need him?
