New Testament Sunday School Lesson 46 (JF): Revelation 5-6, 19-22

The word “end” has at least two meanings in English: the point that marks the boundary or limit, such as the last point in a series, and the purpose or goal. Read the rest of this entry »

RS/MP Lesson 12: “The Atonement” (Gospel Principles Manual)

Posted by kirkcaudle on November 24, 2011

I am teaching this lesson on Sunday and noticed that, as of yet,  nobody has posted notes. I thought I would post mine in case any one else is teaching. The manual has some potentially great discussion questions within this lesson. I will use mostly the questions from the manual and throw in one of my own as a follow-up every now and again.

The Atonement is something that is hard for me to teach (because I really do not understand it) and a subject that I approach with the utmost reverence (because of its eternal and sacred nature). Because of the length of this lesson I have only posted notes for the first three sections. I have also consciously left out the historical atonement theories. I welcome them for discussion; I simply thought that they would complicate the matter for those who are just browsing the blog and are unfamiliar with them. Read the rest of this entry »

How much scripture are we still missing or not recognizing? If we take Nephi seriously, perhaps quite a bit! Read the rest of this entry »

RS/MP Lesson 46: “The Final Judgment” (Gospel Principles Manual)

Posted by kirkcaudle on November 12, 2011

As always, I try to hit each section briefly and offer some food for thought through the scriptures quoted. I also give questions for each section. My hope is that these questions make you come up with questions of your own. My questions, and commentary, are mostly rhetorical to help guide your own thoughts on the subject.

Judgments of God

Our lives are not made up of one single judgment. Rather, our lives are made up of a series of judgments. We are judged in almost everything that we do. This is especially true in the church when it comes to worthiness (baptism, temple, priesthood, etc.). It is also true in other walks of life (work, sports, etc.) However, it is not if we are judged, but how we are judged that is important. The following two scriptures will say how we are judged. Navigation — need suggestions

Posted by Matthew on November 9, 2011

I recently got feedback that it is hard to find the right sunday school lesson. I think the best place to probably look is the sunday school index–but people don’t know to look there.

Our navigation isn’t that helpful. Before switching it up, I’d like some suggestions on how to make it easy. The goal I think should be to make it easy for someone who just shows up and is looking for lesson materials.

What suggestions do you have?
